How to set up your map tile

How to set up your map:
1. You can edit your map by clicking on the edit icon, as shown in the video below
2. To edit your map tile preview section (see image below), click on the “Card info” dropdown located on the left side of the map page and enter the following information:
- Cover image link - Please note that you will need to send your preferred image to customers@commonplace.is to help you upload this image, as images are stored in our repository in order to make them accessible to the public. Then, we will send you the image link to paste in the text box.
- Cover image alt - In this text box, you need to describe this image to people using screen readers for accessibility purposes. Click here to read more.
- Title of the map

3. To edit the content on the left side of your map page (see image below), click on the “Welcome info” dropdown and enter the following information:

4. Next, you need to set the latitude and longitude of the area you want to upload the boundary to. To copy the latitude and longitude of your area, click here and follow the steps in the Google Maps help page. Then click on “Centroid” as shown in the image below and paste or enter these details. Please note the following:
Default zoom - this sets the map to a default view that everyone will see when they visit the map
Min zoom - this means you cannot zoom out beyond the set value. The minimum zoom level is 0.
Max zoom - this means you cannot zoom in beyond or make the map larger than the set value. The maximum zoom level is 25.
6. To delete a map tile, click on the “Delete map” button and select “Yes, delete map” to confirm deletion as shown in the images below.
7. To add new questions or edit existing questions to your map, click on “Edit questions”.
8. It is required to add a sentiment question when adding questions, as this sets the overall tone of the engagement. Please note that if a sentiment question is not added, the survey questions will not be visible when a pin is dropped on the map to make a contribution. 9. Remember to always save changes.
10. Click on “Edit map” to return to editing your map.
11. Cluster (k - means): You can ignore this setting. We may use it to help with the display of groups of respondents' pins.
