Furthering our mission with B Corp certification

Commonplace is officially a B Corp! This milestone is a testament to our commitment to creating positive social and environmental impact through our work. By joining the global community of over 6,800 B Corps, we are aligning ourselves with businesses that are driving a movement for a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

You’ve probably heard the term B Corp thrown around a lot. From smoothie makers to content creators, many brands have sought out this certification to prove that they are doing their best to make a positive impact on the world we live in.

What is a B Corp?

B Corps, short for Benefit Corporations, understand that the world's most pressing challenges cannot be solved by governments and nonprofits alone. Businesses have a crucial role to play in driving positive change. In short, B Corps aim to benefit all stakeholders, including workers, communities, customers, and the planet. They strive to make a positive impact through their daily decisions and actions… and that’s exactly what Commonplace has been doing.

How does a business become a B Corp?

To become a Certified B Corporation, a business must meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. This certification ensures that companies are truly committed to balancing profit and purpose. The process involves engaging stakeholders, providing necessary disclosures and documentation, and often undergoing onsite audits to verify the company's claims.

B Corp

Based on our assessment, we earned a score of 86.6 For comparison, the score for ordinary businesses that complete this assessment is currently 50.9 showing that we’ve made a concerted effort to make positive change for our customers, the planet and the people that work with and for us.

Why are B Corps important?

The importance of B Corps cannot be overstated. When you choose to do business with or invest in a B Corp, you are not only supporting a company that has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, but you are also contributing to a better future for all. In 2020 alone, B Corps collectively preserved 200,000 hectares of land, saved 225 million litres of water, and diverted 207 thousand metric tons of waste. These tangible achievements reflect the impact that B Corps can have on our environment and society.

At Commonplace, our B Corp certification showcases our ongoing efforts to promote tech for good. We have always strived to create positive social and environmental impact through our products and services, and this certification further strengthens our commitment. As a B Corp, we will continue to meet rising standards and work towards building a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative future.

Being part of the B Corp community gives us access to a network of like-minded businesses that are passionate about using business as a force for good. We can collaborate, share best practices, and learn from others who are also committed to making a positive impact. Together, we can drive meaningful change and create a more sustainable and just future.

In conclusion, becoming a Certified B Corporation is a significant achievement for Commonplace.
